Writing has become a fashion among today's teenagers. Look at how popular young writers like Han Han and Guo Jingming are.
Gao Can is a writer. Actually, the 13-year-old is the youngest member of the Association
of Writers of Shaanxi.
So far, the eighth grader in the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University has published eight books. She writes fairy tales, short essays, and most of all, poems.
Gao said she began poem writing when she was in primary school. Once her teacher asked the class to write a composition called “If I were”, Gao had an idea — “Why not make it a poem?” Since then, she has written hundreds of poems and published three books of them.
“I don't have too much life experience,” said Gao. “I write about nature, about things I feel inside and my spiritual world.”
However, teenagers these days rarely write poems, or read them. Exams want “any style but poetry”. But like Gao, there are those who still read and write poems. Hu Jingzhi is one of them. The 14-year-old boy said that poems inspire him.
“But it's annoying that I can't find many poem collections in nearby bookstores,” he said.
Gao agreed with Hu. She said that today's bookstores were filled with books on “how to make money quickly” or “how to give a successful speech”.
“Poems won't teach you how to make money,” said Gao. “But the beautiful words clear your mind and stimulate your imagination.”
“Writing poems is not at all difficult. Just express yourself. And read poems — for their beautiful style ... and for the pure things in life.”

Watching a sporting event with family and friends under the sun is a great experience in summer. 1.________ In the United States, heat exposure led to 8,000 deaths. Luckily, a little prevention can go a long way towards making sure of an enjoyable day.
Know the danger Heat-related illnesses do not require record-breaking temperatures to occur. 2.________ The
body's temperature can reach 106 or 107 degrees Fahrenheit on a 90-degree day, creating a
potentially deadly situation. Factors such as age, weight or a medical condition can influence people.

3.________ Sweating is your body's key way to keep cool, so drink water to stay well hydrated (含水的) before you feel thirsty. A cool beer may sound perfect on a hot day, but drink responsibly. Alcohol stops the body's cooling system and causes you to go to the bathroom frequently.
4.________ Wear light-colored and loosely fitting clothing, so air can go around your body and help keep
you cool. A hat is a must to help you keep cool, since your head contains many blood vessels (血管), and sun block (防晒乳) is always a good idea.
Take action
What should you do if you are suffering from the heat while watching your favorite event? Get up and go. It is a simple piece of advice, but could make the difference between a quick recovery and something more severe that requires medical attention. The ideal thing is to move yourself from the position you're in to an area that is a little cooler. 5.________
