英文:
In recent years, the term \"内卷\" (neijuan) has become increasingly popular in China. It refers to the phenomenon of intense competition and pressure in various aspects of life, such as education, work, and social status. While some argue that this trend has its benefits, I believe that the drawbacks far outweigh them.
On the one hand, internal competition can motivate individuals to work harder and achieve greater success. For example, in a company where employees are constantly striving to outdo each other, the overall productivity and innovation may improve. Similarly, in a classroom where students are competing for top grades, they may push themselves to study harder and learn more.
On the other hand, internal competition can also lead to negative consequences. For one, it can create a toxic
and stressful environment where individuals feel the need to constantly prove themselves and compare themselves to others. This can result in mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Additionally, internal competition can exacerbate inequality and social stratification, as those who are already privileged may have more resources and opportunities to succeed.
In my opinion, the harm caused by internal competition far outweighs any potential benefits. We need to find ways to create a more collaborative and supportive environment, where individuals are encouraged to work together and help each other succeed. This may involve changes in education and workplace policies, as well as a shift in societal values towards cooperation rather than competition.
