Ferrite material for use at microwavefrequencies is made by sintering at between 1200‹ and 1400‹ C. a mixture of MnO, A1 2 03 and Fe 2 0 3 in mol. percentages of 50-57, 2-25 and- 21.5-47.5 respectively. The oxidesmay be replaced by material such as carbonates which convert into oxides on heating. Inan example the materials were ball-milled for 10- 15 hours in water or alcohol, prefired inair at 1000‹ C. for two hours, cooled, reground for 10-15 hours, sintered at 1350-1375‹ C.in air for four hours and cooled in air. Various starting proportions, sintering
temperatures and magnetic properties of the final products are specified. The sinteringmay be in oxygen.
