Zheng He (1371 -- 1433), originally named Ma and later given the surname Zheng by Zhu Di, was a eunuch of the Ming Dynasty, a great navigator and diplomat in Chinese history. When Zheng was young, he was an eunuch beside Zhu Di, King of Yan. Later, he made outstanding achievements in the Battle of Jingnan and was promoted to the eunuch of internal government. After that, he made seven voyages to the Western seas, creating unprecedented feats in the world maritime history, and playing a positive role in the economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
