My team’s topic is Organic light-emitting diode, which is also called OLED or simply oled. First I’ll give you an overview. And my discourse will not be very deep or professional, so that you can understand me.
These are the 6 keywords of my discourse.
Part 1: Why. Why should we develop OLED as a new generation of display device? Why is it better than other devices? Because it has so many advantages, such as fast response, wide viewing angel, flexible and so on. And if you feel this boring, there is another plot of comparison of performances between LCD and oled. Performances are divided into four levels, level 4 is the best. The red line stands for LCD and the blue one, oled. We can see oled has many excellent performances. You can also see where LCD’s shortage lies in. Of course, to oled, there still exit some problems to be solved, such as lifetime and color purity. But it’s just a matter of time. And it’s widely accepted that oled must be the trend of development of display technology in the future. If you think it not enough, There are more pictures for you in the last two parts. I know you are far more interested in pictures than words.
Part 2: When. These are some historic events about oled, from the first patent to the application of lighting of current days. We can see the size is from small to large, the color from only one to full-color. And the area of application is becoming wider. There are transparent oleds and
flexible oleds. And The share of market is increasing very fast. This is transparent oled, and this is flexible oled. Flexible means you can bend it easily without breaking.
Part 3: What. What is it like? This is a sandwich, I know you love it. Two pieces of bread, between them there are vegetables, meat, peanuts, and whatever you want…… The basic structure of OLED is similar to it.……Two substrates, usually made from glass. And between them, there are two electrodes, ITO as the anode, and metal as the cathode. And there are electron transport layer, hole transport layer, and organic light emitters, which is also called luminescent layer.
Part 4: How. How does it work?First, holes and electrons are injected. Then holes are transported through HTL, and electrons are transported through ETL. Finally they both arrive in the luminescent layer and recombine. You know, energy will be generated in this process. And the molecules of light-emitting material absorb the energy. So, the molecules are excited, and light is generated and emitted. By changing the light-emitting material, we can obtain different colors.
Part 5:Where .Where can we see oled devices?
Maybe you have already known some applications of oled. Here I’ll give you some more interesting pictures.
These are mobile phones made from oled devices. You can wear it on your wrist, just like a watch. Hey, honey, I love you, over. It’s very
cool. But this one is not a cell phone. You can see the logo of SONY on it. So, what the hell is it? It’s a computer, here is the keyboard. And actually, it’s not only a computer, but also a projector. It can project the images onto the wall. So, it’s very geilivable, right?
This is a solar energy umbrella. Its inside wall is made from oled devices. First it absorbs solar energy and convert it into electricity stored in the batteries. Then you can put it near the desk. It will shine. If it were made from LCD or other devices, when you fold this umbrella, it must be broken. But the flexible oled can survive no matter how you fold it.
Part 6: Who. Currently, South Korea and Japan are the leaders of oled technology. This oled TV is from SONY corporation, 27 inches, and the thickness is only 10 millimeters. For Chinese companies, they know the principles, however, it is techniques that they lack of. But there still exit chances for Chinese enterprises to catch up with foreign countries.
OK, my discourse is over. Then my professional partners will give you some professional knowledge. So, if you have any questions, don’t ask me, ask these boys and girls. And I do believe that you can get satisfactory replies. Thank you very much!
