摘要: power factor controllers (12) engine act in the presence of varying motor loads,to maintain the phase delay angle (O / M) between the voltage and the motor current toa predetermined request or a reference phase delay value (Y / R) by adjusting the controlangle of switching devices controlled by gate (11) connected in series with the motorpower supply (a, B, C). The optimum reference phase delay value (Y / R) depends on themotor characteristics and be as small as possible while obtaining a stable controlcharacteristic unambiguously. A reference setting unit (14) is provided for automaticallyadjusting an appropriate reference phase delay (Y / R). This unit (14) controls the motorphase delay (O / M) during startup and sets the reference phase delay (Y / R) to a valuecorresponding to the minimum phase delay controlled increased by a predeterminedamount ( e.g. 8o). This unit (14) may be designed to seek to improve the reference valueadjusted (Y / R) while the engine is running by comparing repeatedly the actual phasedelay (O / M) increased by said predetermined amount to the value adjusted reference (Y
