compressed air, from a source located externally of the pallet, so that an independent aircushion can be formed in each plenum chamber (13) to provide support for any loadcarried on the pallet. The pallet is fitted with devices (18) for separately controlling theair flowing from a single external source, to each of the plenum chambers (13) tofacilitate the alignment of the pallet with the supporting surface (1), and devices (8,9,12)for connecting the pallet with the external supply of air (16), and means of propulsion.
