Two months ago, there was a serious earthquake in my country. Many people were hurt and 16 their homes. In my school, we decided to organize a 5-kilometer run to collect money for the people. 17 signed up for the run and asked their relatives and neighbors to support them. These people agreed to 18 some money-50 cents or a dollar, for example, for every kilometer that the students completed.
Joe was my classmate. He was the 19 student in my class because he seldom did any exercise and he ate plenty of junk food. He never walked to school. He always took a bus. When he was asked 20 he was going to take part in the run, he said he would think about it. A few student laughed and I think Joe felt embarrassed. I felt a bit sorry for 21 .
The next day, as I was riding to school, I saw Joe walking in the street. I stopped and asked why he was 22 . He said he was training to take part in the run. “Good for you, Joe!” I said . 23 , I told my friends about Joe. Most of them just laughed and said that they didn’t think he would 24 the run. I wasn’t sure, but I decided that I would 25 Joe. So, for the two weeks before the run, I was his trainer. He walked to school for a few 26 . Then he started to run slowly.
On the day of the run, Joe lined up with the other students. The 27 began and soon Joe was left behind.Well, it took him hours to finish and he didn’t expect to 28 the other students, but he tried to do his best. And 29 he completed the 5-kilometer run. Everyone was very 30 and said, “Well done, Joe” What is more, Joe collected more money than any other
student!

When I was a junior high school student in 1980, God gave me a gift, it was happiness.
On weekend, I went to visit my grandparents in the countryside. On my way home a car ran over me and cut off my 41 because of its high speed.
Several days later when I woke up at the hospital, I realized I had to spend the rest of my life 42 arms. How sad I felt at that time! Even I was full of fears. 43 slowly I knew I had to face the fact and got over it. I couldn’t get my arms back even though I 44 every day. However, it’s easier 45 than done. It took me nearly half a year to get out of the sadness 46 . I got so much from my past story. From then on, I could treat my life with a 47 mind. Happiness depends on what we have! It’s in our heart. It’s a state of mind, even though you own the whole world, you may still feel 55 . Happiness comes from mastering the art of appreciating(感激) and taking pleasure in what you really have.

Yesterday was Father's Day. Many things happening between my father and me crowded my mind. But one thing made a deep impression on me.

“No! Leave me alone!” Those were 33 words I said to him that morning.

My mother may have said but I didn't hear. I didn't hear anything 39 those terrible words: Leave me alone. My dad said them in order to 40 himself. He didn't want to be hurt more. How much had I hurt him 41 I
shouted out those words at him earlier in the day?
It was several days later that he was 42 able to have a talk. I held his hand gently, afraid of hurting him.
\"Daddy...I am so sorry...”
“It's okay,sweetheart. I'll be okay.”
“No,”I said,\"I mean about 43 I said to you that day. You know, that morning?\"
He looked at me and said, “Sweetheart, I remember 44 about that day, not before, during or after the accident. I remember telling you goodnight the night before, though.” He managed a weak smile.
