Certificate Craze on Campus

In recent years, to get a certificate has become a new craze among college students. Just randomly ask a student on campus what he or she is busy doing, possibly, you may get the answer that he is preparing for a certificate. Why does this craze appear?

There are mainly two reasons behind this phenomenon.

To begin with, it is the employment pressure that forces college students to get more certificates.With the admission expansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job market.

How can one make himself more competitive? More certificates at hand, maybe.

Furthermore, diploma and certificates are still vital standards for employers to measure a person's ability. In order to increase the qualification for a job, the

students compel themselves to run from one exam to another.

From my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since they do not necessarily prove one's ability. Being crazy in getting certificates of no practical value blindly is nothing but wasting time. In other words, we should focus on improving our ability and getting more experience.

Should Free Music Downloads Be Banned

The use of the Internet is more prevalent than decades ago. People search for information and watch movies even buy things from the Internet. And absolutely, the free songs downloaded from the websites make our leisure time more colorful. People therefore, in increasing number, are favor of downloading free music into their mobile phones by this way.

However, there are disagreements on this subject. It occurs to these critics that downloading free songs from the Internet is highly likely to have a negative impact on the profits of record companies. For example, we were no longer buy CDs or

tapes of our favorite singers years ago, instead, we downloaded wanted songs from Kugou. QQ or other music player APPs freely. The whole music industry was heavily shocked afterwards. So these opponents strongly deem that free music downloads should be banned.

When it comes to my standpoint, I definitely hope that the Internet will provide me free songs all the time, because I am keen on downloading different genres of music and later listen to them with headphones. In addition, I am not willing to use my salary to buy these songs. And I believe I am not the only one think like this. It can be seen from a recent survey conducted in four colleges of our city. The result showed that nearly 88% students and 86% teachers were getting used to downloading free songs from the Internet. When some of them were asked “ What will you do if free music downloads no longer exists?” Most of them said that they would find another way to get free songs.

We Should Balance Our Love

Nowadays it is common to see that many parents focus their attention on their children, but leave their own parents without proper care. The most typical example is the phenomenon of empty nest seniors. This problem has aroused the public concern and has become the hot topic of many discussions. Paying little attention to older parents can have serious consequences. First, the elderly often feel lonely and depressed if there is no child to talk with. And this can have a bad effect on their mental health. Second, the aged parents with no children by their sides can have a lot of trouble in their daily life due to disease or old age.

In my opinion, we should take the following measures. Children should be encouraged to live with or near their old parents, which is very helpful for them to know their parents, concern and attend their daily life. And it is also necessary for them to create chances to communicate with their aged parents. Besides, our government should strive to establish the service system for the elderly and expand its social insurance coverage among them.
