摘要：A method of configuring a peripheral device (30) on a network (10) without userintervention includes a server node (20) receiving identification data (130) for identifyingthe peripheral device on the network and, if the peripheral device is a new device (135) on
the network or a driver for the peripheral device is not registered (145) on the servernode, the server node self-installing the driver (160) for the peripheral device. As such,newly connected peripheral devices are automatically seen on a network and a driver forthe peripheral device is automatically configured on a print server without any userintervention. Additionally, a communication port and queue for the device are alsoautomatically created (175,185). Moreover, device configurations are dynamically andautomatically updated (190,192,195) on the print server for consistent, accurate networkinformation.
