Unit 7 What does he look like?

Teaching Aims: 1.Revison.

2.Learn the words : beard, bald, blonde, glasses. 3.Learn to describe a person’s appearance.

Teaching difficult & key points: 1. How to learn and remember these words. 2. How to use these words to describe a person’s appearance. Teaching Steps: Step1. Warming up Sing some English songs. Step2. Revision and greetings T: How’s it going? What’s the date today? What day is it today?

How’s the weather today? (Raining) Do you like raining days? Are you happy?

OK! Now let’s play a guessing game. Today ,there are so many teachers in our class. And they are also my good friends. Now I will describe one of my friends’ appearance, and then you guess “ Who is she?”( Describe one of the teacher’s appearance and then let the students guess.)

T: You are very clever. You have known my friends. Now I’d like to know your friends. Ask and answer in pairs and talk about your friends. (Give them 1 minute to prepar and then ask some pairs to act it before the class.)

Step3 . Presentation

T: Besides playing games , I also like going to the movies when it is sunny. In the movies, I can see many movie stars. Today , I bring some pictures for you.

Show some pictures: Who is she? What does he/she look like? ( good-looking, a little bit, tell jokes, stop talking, popular, pop singer ) Show other pictures : What does she/he look like?

He/She is/has…( wears glass, has a beard, bald, has blonde hair)

(Teach these words.)

Step4. Guessing games

T: Just now, I have shown you so many photos of the stars. Who is my favorite star? Can

you guess?

Give them some information , hide some part of the photos and let them guess.

Build Height short medium height Hair Other Characters a little bit heavy thin short shot curly hair big head ; big ears; a comedy actor long face; a host The Ss may ask like this: Is he short/long? Is he heavy? Does he have long hair?…. And the teacher asks their questions. Write the answers in the form. Let the Ss guess

according to the information in the form. ( Pan Changjiang, Li Yong)

Step5 Practice

1. Do SectionB 1a 2. Listening

3. T: Do you have your favorite star in the school or in our class? Now , make a dialogue ,

describe what does he/ she look like?

A: Do you know my favorite star in our school/class? B: What does he/she look like? A: She/He has… B: Is she/he…? A: ….

B: I think he/she is… A: …

Step6 Compare

T: I know …’s favorite star is Cai Yilin.(Show Cai’ photo) But what did she look like before?

Do you know? (show a photo) Now let’s compare her look before and now.

Before Now Round face: a little bit Thin; long straight blonde hair; heavy; short straight black hair; not pretty , fashionable and popular very pretty. T: Well done! Now please open your books . There is another star. He has a new looking. Read the article first and then tell me what did he look like before and what does he

lookl like now.
